Inter captain Javier Zanetti thinks that Palermo defender Matias Silvestre and Siena striker Mattia Destro would be welcome additions to the squad.

The Nerazzurri are reportedly on the verge of signing Silvestre for a fee of €11 million, while they are amongst a host of clubs in the race for Destro.

The 38-year-old defender stated that both players would be worthy of wearing the Inter shirt, but more importantly will strengthen the Serie A side.

"Destro and Silvestre are two players worthy of wearing the Inter colours," Zanetti said to Il Corriere dello Sport. "They would strengthen our side."

Zanetti went on to admit that Inter need to strengthen their side in the transfer window if they want to compete for honours in the coming season.

"As it is right now there are teams that are better equipped than us for the Scudetto," he concluded.
