Cesc Fabregas, Arsenal London
The mayor of the town where Cesc Fabregas grew up has said that the
Arsenal midfielder "is experiencing a kidnapping".
Estanislau Fors i Garcia, of Arenys de Mar in Catalunya, believes that the 24-year-old is being kept against his wishes by being forced to stay at Arsenal and has called on Arsene Wenger to allow him to return home.
"We want him to come right away, he is experiencing a kidnapping," Garcia told Barcelona newspaper
Sport.
"If the English are so honourable they should behave properly.
"The clowning around must stop as it is confusing everyone."
The mayor's comments come not long after Barcelona posted quotes on their official website from midfielder Xavi, who said Fabregas was “suffering” because he was not being allowed to rejoin the club which he had left as a 16-year-old.
Wenger said Xavi was disrespectful but later added that he would not report the Catalan club to Fifa over the incident.
