Euro 2012 : Xabi Alonso (Spain vs France)
Xabi Alonso is confident that Spain
can continue to win more trophies in the upcoming years as he believes his national team still have a young squad.
The history-making European and world champions have dominated international football since their Euro 2008 win, and the holding midfielder warned rivals that there's still more to come from La Roja
, who in addition to becoming the first country to successfully defend their European crown, also became the first international side to claim three consecutive major titles.
"We have made history because we did something unique. The future seems to be bright as well for Spain," Xabi Alonso was quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport
"Only three of our players are older than 30. We will continue to have a great team with a few changes. It will not be easy to remain hungry for more, but we have so far succeeded in doing just that.
"The core of the team has remained the same over the past few years. We have 11 players who were there at all three tournaments, and that says a lot. Things are going well without the need to make too much of an effort, and that's a huge advantage."
Spain start their qualification campaign for the 2014 World Cup on September 11 against Georgia.
