Despite losing Alessandro Nesta to a red card, the Impact held on to earn three points in Kansas City. The Montreal Impact came from behind to beat Sporting Kansas City, 2-1.

The match broke open with three goals clusted around halftime. In first-half stoppage time, Alessandro Nesta dragged down Claudio Bieler at the edge of the box. Bieler stepped up and drilled the penalty low to the goalkeeper's right. The goal marked the Argentine's seventh of the season.

Two minutes into the second half, Montreal equalized. A corner fell to the top of the box, where Sanna Nyassi smashed it back into the goal.

Shortly after, the Impact moved ahead. Kansas City failed to clear its lines three times and the ball fell to Collen Warner in the box. Warner slotted past Jimmy Nielsen.

With a quarter of an hour remaining in the match, Bieler caught Nesta while the Italian was on the ground. Nesta jumped up and headbutted Bieler, earning a straight red.

Montreal held on to earn the three road points and go top of the Eastern Conference.
