The U.S. international forward joins a New England attack that has had difficulty finding the back of the net this season. The New England Revolution have added 20-year-old U.S. international striker Juan Agudelo from Chivas USA in a bid to bolster a flagging forward corps. Chivas USA received an undisclosed amount of allocation money in return.

Agudelo has two goals in six appearances this season, and the former New York Red Bulls academy product has tallied 11 goals in 59 MLS games. He also has experience with the U.S. national team, scoring two goals in 17 caps. He joined Chivas in a trade from New York last season.

New England has scored just four goals in eight games this season, with a four-way tie for top scorer spread between Lee Nguyen, Diego Fagundez, Jerry Bengtson and an own goal from New York's Brandon Barklage.

“We’re very pleased we were able to complete this deal with Chivas USA,” said Revolution General Manager Michael Burns in a team statement. “While Juan is a young player with tremendous potential, he also already has a lot of experience both inside our league and internationally with the U.S. national team. We believe Juan will improve our attack and make us a better team.”

Agudelo is in the final year of his contract and is expected to draw interest from European clubs after the MLS season. He trialed with Scottish power Celtic during the most recent MLS offseason.
