The American striker added silverware to his record goal-scoring season, tallying the decisive strike in AZ's domestic cup triumph over PSV Eindhoven.Jozy Altidore's latest goal for AZ Alkmaar proved to be the most important of his record-setting season.

The American striker's 31st goal in all competitions wound up being the decisive tally, as AZ Alkmaar defeated PSV Eindhoven 2-1 Thursday to capture the Dutch Cup for the first time since 1982.

Altidore streaked down the center and received a pass from Viktor Elm, cut back on his defender and fired a low shot that gave AZ a 2-0 lead in the 14th minute. AZ playmaker and sought-after transfer target Adam Maher had opened the scoring just two minutes earlier.

Jurgen Locadia brought PSV within 2-1 later in the first half, but AZ held on despite waves of late PSV pressure to lift the silverware at Stadion Feyenoord in Rotterdam, marking Altidore's first trophy as a professional.

Altidore was subbed off in the 88th minute of the match, with Alabama-born Iceland international Aron Johannsson replacing him. He tallied eight goals in six games during the Dutch Cup competition, including a brace against Ajax in the semifinals to carry AZ to the final, where it clinched a place in next season's Europa League with the title win.

Altidore, who reportedly will not be released by AZ in time for the upcoming U.S. national team training camp prior to friendlies against Belgium and Germany, will look to carry over his scoring form into this summer's World Cup qualifiers. Despite scoring a record amount for an American in a single season abroad, he has not tallied for the national team since a friendly against Slovenia in November 2011.
