Ancelotti predicts Beckham will be fit for action by mid-February

The Parc des Princes coach believes that the new midfield signing will be ready for the club's tie with Sochaux in the middle of the month, but admits a Valencia debut is possible

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that David Beckham is likely to reach sufficient fitness to make his Paris Saint-Germain debut in the middle of February.

PSG faces Bastia on Friday, and although the former Manchester United and Real Madrid man has completed his free transfer to the French club, he will not be named in the side for the Ligue 1 clash and has yet to train with the squad.

Beckham has been out of action since winning his second straight MLS Cup with the Los Angeles Galaxy on Dec. 1, but he had been training with Arsenal in the weeks leading up to his signing with PSG. Ancelotti hinted that a debut against Valencia (Feb. 12) in the UEFA Champions League is possible, though he admitted it was more likely that Beckham will play his first PSG game against Sochaux (Feb. 17).

"He works this week with two physical trainers," Ancelotti told reporters at a press conference on Thursday. "He is in London for personal reasons right now, but he will be back with the team before our match with Valencia. It is possible that he will be ready for Sochaux."

Ancelotti made Beckham his second arrival of the January transfer window after Lucas Moura joined from Sao Paulo at the end of 2012, having agreed a deal worth more than 30 million euros in the summer. Beckham is signed on through the remainder of the 2012-13 season.
