A four-year contract was signed by both parties that has the potential to make Barcelona the world’s richest club, overtaking arch rivals Real Madrid in the process.

"This agreement puts us at the forefront of sports club sponsorships, which has always been an objective for the current board of directors," Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu told the press.

The writing ‘Rakuten’ will be accompanied by the red R logo across the middle of the strips and doesn’t take too much away from the relatively plain tops.

Heading into the final weekend of the La Liga season, Barca sit in second, three points behind league leaders Real Madrid. Camp Nou will host a vital fixture against Eibar, as their fans will be hoping Malaga can take all three points away to Madrid.

Should Barca win and Madrid fail to pick up any points, Luis Enrique's side will claim their 26th title in dramatic style.
