Timmy Chandler waiting on scans to determine if he can play in U.S. June World Cup qualifiers

The U.S. right back told Goal that he's waiting on in-depth scans to determine if he will be able to play in any of the USA's upcoming World Cup qualifying matches. Timmy Chandler will have to wait till next week to see if he can play in any of the United States' upcoming World Cup qualifiers in June.

The U.S. international right back tore a ligament in his left knee during training last week that forced him to miss FC Nuremberg's last two matches of the Bundlesliga season. Chandler revealed to Goal that the injury was caused when a teammate awkwardly fell on his knee and admitted that he could be out longer than the three or four weeks that was initially reported.

"I could be out for four to five weeks for recovery," Chandler told Goal in a phone interview. "I have to look at what the doctor says from our team."

Chandler will almost certainly miss the U.S.'s upcoming friendlies against Belgium and his nation of birth, Germany. It was speculated that Chandler would be disappointed to not face Die Mannschaft but the 23-year-old insisted that he would be more disappointed if he doesn't have an opportunity to play in the June qualifiers.

"No, I don't think so [in regards to Germany match]," Chandler explained. "[I'm] thinking about the qualifying game[s] for the USA."
