50. Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard is the only Englishman to make this year's top 50. Halfway through the season, he was out of favor at Chelsea and had no chance of making the list - and there was even talk that his powers of consistency and goalscoring had been extinguished for good.

However, he forced his way back into the starting XI at Stamford Bridge once Rafa Benitez replaced Roberto Di Matteo and provided the leadership and goals to secure Chelsea's third-placed finish in the Premier League and a Europa League triumph. He enjoyed his most productive international season and his 17 club goals saw him become the Blues' all-time top scorer.

Oscar and Eden Hazard have brought a new style and sense of promise to Chelsea's future, but Lampard's contribution ultimately proved to be more valuable. After two years out of the 50, he has just about made it back in and, after signing a new contract at Chelsea under the returning Jose Mourinho, you wouldn't bet against him keeping his place next season.
